Lucien, the AI that makes phone calls for you

From one written request, Lucien places a real phone call on your behalf, speaks the other person’s language, and writes back with the answer, the transcript and a translation.

Lucien is made by AskLucien, a company built in Paris. It works on the web, on iPhone and on Android, with no special phone or SIM card. It calls landlines and mobiles in more than 200 countries and territories, in 82 languages.

This page covers how to start, what you get back, what a call costs, and which calls Lucien does not make.

Open the app

Calls support 82 languages. The app interface is available in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Chinese, Japanese and Polish.

How to use Lucien

1. Write what you need

Type the request in your own words and in your own language: who to call, what to ask, and which answers you can accept.

Call Trattoria da Enzo in Rome and book a table for four on Friday at 8 pm. 8:30 is fine too. Ask whether they have a vegetarian menu.

2. Check the plan

Lucien shows the number, the call language, the questions it will ask and the cost estimate. Nothing is dialled until you approve.

3. Lucien makes the call

Lucien introduces itself as an AI assistant calling on your behalf, asks your questions in the local language and stays within your instructions.

4. Read the result

You get the answer in your language, a short summary, the full transcript and a translation of the conversation. You can check exactly what was asked and what the other person said.

What you can ask Lucien to call about

  • Book a table at a restaurant, at home or abroad. See restaurant reservations.
  • Ask for or move an appointment with a doctor, dentist, salon or garage. See appointments.
  • Ask a hotel about a room, an early check-in or parking. See hotel room availability.
  • Check a price, a stock level or opening hours. See price and availability checks.
  • Get a quote from a plumber or another tradesperson. See plumber quotes.
  • Pass a message to a friend or a family member and bring back their reply.
  • Call several businesses with the same questions and compare their answers.

Where Lucien can call, and in which languages

Lucien calls landlines and mobiles in more than 200 countries and territories, across Europe, North and Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Oceania, wherever its phone carrier has a current rate. The app checks each number before dialling.

It speaks 82 languages on the call, including French, English, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Greek, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Hindi, Turkish, Thai and Vietnamese. You can write in one language and have the call in another. See all languages and countries.

You do not need a particular phone, a local SIM card or a phone subscription. Lucien works in a web browser and in the iPhone and Android apps.

What a call costs

Lucien runs on prepaid credits. The total for a call depends on the destination, the type of number and how long the call lasts. The app shows the estimate before dialling and the final charge afterwards.

Destination3-minute call5-minute call
France, landlineabout 390 creditsabout 450 credits

Japan, mobileabout 750 creditsabout 1,050 credits

These are estimates from our pricing page calculator on 2 November 2026, for one connected call. Rates change, so the estimate in the app is the one that counts.

Credits come in one-time packs from 10 € for 5,000 credits, or in monthly plans from 9.99 € for 7,000 credits a month. On the 10 € pack, a 3-minute call to a French landline costs about 0.80 €.

New accounts get 600 welcome credits when they save a card, enough for a short call to a landline in France, Germany or Italy. They are valid for one calendar month.

An attempt can use credits even when nobody answers. Each charge appears in your billing history.

Calls Lucien does not make

  • Emergency numbers. Call the emergency services yourself.
  • Premium-rate and satellite numbers.
  • Marketing, sales or cold calls.
  • Calls that pretend to be you or anyone else. Lucien always says it is an AI assistant.
  • Incoming calls and text messages. Lucien only places calls; it does not give you a number people can reach.
  • Calls that are not lawful where they are made. You are responsible for the calls you request.

A person is still the better choice when the conversation is long and open-ended, when a decision has to be made live, or when the business needs your identity or a payment. In those cases, see other ways to handle a call.

Several calls in one request

Lucien can call several businesses for one request, sometimes at the same time, ask each one the same questions and bring back a comparison.

Call four garages near Lyon and ask the price and the waiting time to replace the front brake pads on a 2019 Peugeot 208.

Each call has its own transcript, so you can check every answer.

How Lucien compares with other calling assistants

Most consumer AI calling assistants call the United States only, or a short list of countries. Lucien is built for calls to any country, in the other person’s language.
