Transparent call pricing

Know the rate before Lucien dials

Phone rates vary by destination. Lucien resolves the supported rate, shows an estimate, and reserves prepaid credit before starting the call.

How pricing works

  1. 1

    Current destination rate

Lucien matches the complete phone number against its current carrier rate deck. If it cannot price the number safely, the call does not start.

  2. 2

    Estimate before dialing

The app shows the estimated price for the call duration and the applicable first-minute amount in your billing currency.

  3. 3

    Final connected-call charge

After the call, Lucien reconciles the provider cost and charges the prepaid balance, capped by the amount reserved for that call.

Prepaid protection, not an open-ended invoice

Lucien checks the available balance and places a conservative reservation before a call. The reservation accounts for the allowed call duration and a buffer. The final customer charge cannot exceed that reserved amount, even if a provider reports a higher late cost.

This means a premium or unexpectedly expensive destination cannot quietly turn a small prepaid balance into a large negative balance.

Personal and business accounts

Personal

Pay as you go

No subscription is required for personal calls. Add prepaid credit, review the estimate, and pay for the calls you place.

Business

Plans plus prepaid calls

Business plans add team seats, higher usage limits, concurrency, API capacity, and monthly included credit. Calls still draw from the prepaid balance rather than creating arrears.

Current plan availability and amounts are shown inside the app. Eligible new accounts may also see trial credit before their first call.

Pricing questions

How is a Lucien call priced?

The app resolves a destination-specific rate before dialing and estimates the call in your billing currency. The final charge is based on the connected call and the applicable billing increments, up to the credit reserved for that call.

Why does the rate vary?

Carrier prices differ by country, destination prefix, and number type. A mobile, landline, or special number can have a different cost even within one country.

Can a call make my balance negative?

Lucien uses prepaid credit and reserves an amount before dialing. A call cannot be charged beyond that reservation, which protects the account from an open-ended negative balance.

What happens if a destination has no current rate?

The call fails before dialing. Lucien does not use a made-up fallback rate for an unpriced destination.

Is a subscription required?

Personal use does not require a subscription; calls draw from prepaid credit. Business workspaces can choose plans for team features, limits, concurrency, API access, and included monthly credit.
